For The Grandeur, I just take the "Chamber Music Hall" snapshot and run that on Kontakt. And it's a lot - like 100 or so of GBs on my hard drive - I don't need 3 different microphone or mixing variants. However, I don't think the CFX is good at that department. But I don't know - I prefer a warm body especially in the mid to lower range, and The Grandeur does it quite well. Yeah, the CFX is quite good indeed, according to the video you just showed me. There are also the VSL Steinway Hamburg D, Yamaha CFX & Vintage Bluthner Grand pianos, which are highly regarded by demanding pianists. Check out this video by Australian classical pianist Phillip Johnston using the Garritan CFX controlled by a Yamaha AvantGrand Digital Piano: Probably the best value there is in the sampled piano world in terms of detailed sampling, dynamic range, playability & pedalling, and multiple mic choices. If you're after a highly playable and realistic sampled piano with real una corda samples, you'd be hard pressed to do any better than Garrtitan's Abbey Road CFX Concert Grand. If it can be on Kontakt, that would be even better.

What The Grandeur can do in under 5 or 6 GB, I think that is the right download size for me. So, can anyone here recommend a piano library that is efficient as The Grandeur, simple in operation, sampled with detail, and includes soft pedal samples? I don't care about the price, but I don't believe in piano libraries of hundreds of GB in size - that's simply too much. The pity thing is, though it's detailed and has a great sound, it doesn't have una corda (or "soft pedal) samples.
I've been playing with Native Instruments' The Grandeur and I'm loving it! I just load up the "chamber music hall" snapshot on Kontakt and play away for hours.
In addition to using acoustic pianos in school practice rooms, I also have a StudioLogic SL88 Grand midi controller with me at home for extended practice, or for that special day when I don't feel like getting a practimce room at school. My name is David and I am a rising pianist.
